To my American friends, this is about a small white country cottage, of which, there are many dotted about the Scottish countryside. It’s not about the big one over there, even though Apple Pages wanted to capitalise “white house” at every opportunity 🤗😉.

The White House
The earth is breathing.
A breeze pulses
through the calm wood,
follows the quiet road,
and flows around
the white house.
Where there is
no sound of life,
no rise and fall.
It will stir.
Soon enough,
the harsh current
of this flawed world,
will blow upon
the white house.
It will wake, take
another deep breath,
but not yet…not yet.

I do appreciate a little, white house. I love the poem and the image in equal measure.

A great wee poem! The colours and simplicity in your painting remind me of some paintings by David Hockney.

Thanks Ashley. I don’t take my painting too seriously, it’s a bit of fun and find it very mindful. This one is only 6in x 4 in and I used cotton buds instead of brushes.

Still, I love it. There is a wonderful innocence in the painting.
