Situated at Kettleholm near Lockerbie; these are the ruins of a two and three story mansion built in the 1890’s in the Scots Baronial style. It was abandoned circa 1960.

As far as my writing is concerned, I usually write short poems (some in Scots dialect), hence my interest in haiku and related forms.View all of photos, poetry and haiku by Derek Ross's posts.
No matter how grand an edifice we build, in the end, the earth will reclaim it.

It must have been a pretty amazing mansion. Have you photographed Carnsalloch? It would be wonderful to see it restored and put to good use.
Aye, would be great to see Carnsalloch put to good use. However, It’s in a very poor state and cordoned off. Last time I tried there was a nutter in a caravan living there who threatened anyone who came close! He’s not there now but the building is dangerous.
